Norwegian Cruise Line has recently been accused of capturing animals and relocating them to their private island, Harvest Caye, in southern Belize. The line prides itself in offering unique animal excursions on this island. However, many of these activities include keeping animals not native to the area captive.
One such case involves a scarlet macaw native to the forests of mainland Belize named Big Red who is currently under the control of Norwegian. Many, including animal protection agencies in Belize, have been requesting his release.
Animal activists have also requested the release of Sean, a dolphin stationed at Norwegian Cruise Lines’ island in the Bahamas, by creating a petition and protesting the line.
The government of Belize has found no issue with the company and despite mounting pressure from some groups, Norwegian plans to acquire more animals for their properties scattered around the Caribbean.
Many more animals are being “exploited for entertainment purposes” by Norwegian according to activists available for comment.
The petition to free Sean the dolphin has not been edited for clarity by Honest News Online.
