INTRODUCTION
Attention: This church is about raising great people. Greatness requires that we see it.
Problem: We come from backgrounds where we don’t see a lot of greatness.
Orientation: If we will attain the image of God, we will keep it before our eyes continually.
Purpose: To challenge worldchangers to keep the image before their eyes continually.
1. Becoming a son requires we use the image to programme our senses
a. Change is result. Beholding is action. You don’t focus on result but on action.
b. Become obsessed with the action that will bring you greatness and transformation.
c. Illus.: to have love, patience, diligence, etc. to have to see those continually.
d. Use your senses. The eye stands for senses of the body. It gets pictures and plants that on the mind and the mind uses the picture in turn to regulate the body.
e. We can see with our ears, hands, tongue, nose, etc. It is about however you can make impressions on the mind. It is about the senses.
2. Becoming a son is a mental business
a. Christlikeness is not a spirit thing. It is a mind thing, Rom. 12.1; Pr. 23.7
b. The mind is a programmable device. It can be written or rewritten on (renewed).
c. So you can be anything you want to be. Just write the program.
d. The mind is the slave that ultimately enslaves.
e. Choke all entrances with the image of God and the mind will conform to it, Js. 1.22-25; Pr. 3.21; 4.20-23; Ps. 119.11. The image is the character of God
3. Becoming a son requires a conducive environment.
a. The environment affects your entire senses. You need to create an environment where you see the image.
b. What creates the environment for cultivating the image
i. Role models, mentors and quality friends, Pr. 13.20.
ii. Pictures, movies, books, etc. that communicate the values help.
iii. Write the virtues down and sense them continuously. The mind is programmed a bit at a time.
CONCLUSION
If we are going to have the image of God, then we have to see it continually.
