A tiger mum who whipped her adopted son with a skipping rope because he did not finish his homework
A mother has been jailed for half a year after
brutally whipping her son as punishment for not finishing his homeworkin
Nanjing, Jiagsu Province, China.
The woman, referred to only as Li in local media, deliberately
whip
ped her nine-year-old adopted son for not finishing his homework.
The beating might have gone unnoticed but for the teachers who took
photos of the the boy’s scars all over his body and posted it online.
The incident caused outrage in China and the woman was reported to
police. In court Ms Li confessed to repeatedly beating the child with a
skipping rope and back scratcher because he “didn’t finish his homework
and told lies.”
She said: “I’m not a bad mother. I just don’t want him to lie and he doesn’t feel safe when we’re apart from each other.” The
boy is believed to be Li’s nephew, whom she adopted several years ago
from his parents in rurral area to give the boy better education.
The court ruling said: “No matter how much she cares and loves her son, she must face the consequences of her actions.” Court
officials have sent the schoolboy back to his biological parents’
family, while his adoptive mother now serves her six-month jail
sentence
