Jigawa town, the location of the deadly attack, is on the outskirts of Potiskum, the capital of Yobe State in Nigeria’s northeast zone.
Shocked eyewitnesses disclosed that the suicide bomber entered the church during the morning service lifted her clothing and exploded her
self, leaving five people dead. Early reports also indicated that a yet to be determined number of people sustained various levels of injuries.
This morning’s attack is the latest in a series of bombings since members of the Islamist terror group, Boko Haram, escalated their assaults across Nigeria’s violence-plagued northeast.
The explosion inside the Redeemed Church marked the first time the insurgent Islamist group has targeted a church for bombing since President Muhammadu Buhari took over power on May 29, 2015 promising to crack down on the deadly sect.......more pix below
