Manuel Pellegrini insisted he is not concerned about his job after Manchester City's seventh Premier League defeat of the season left them fourth in the table.
Champions City now trail leaders Chelsea by nine points after their 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace on Monday night, while Jose Mourinho's side also have the luxury of a game in hand.
The Blues have won just five League games this calendar year and, for the first time since August 2013, they are behind neighbours United outright in the table.
Palace's win was just the latest damaging dent to City's season ahead of Sunday's derby and Pellegrini was again forced to respond to doubts about his future.
"No, I am not concerned about my job," he said. "That's the only thing I am never concerned about.
"I just do my work and I am very happy and I think the team are maybe having a difficult season, but never worry about me."

Deadpan in defeat, Pellegrini attempted to play down the upcoming match with United, despite his auspicious record against them.

Unbeaten in seven with Villarreal and City versus United, Pellegrini takes City to Old Trafford on an inauspicious run of two wins and four defeats from their last six games.

And he effectively conceded any aspirations of retaining the title.

"You ask me the same question every game, and I'll tell you the same answer: we are not thinking about Chelsea, or the title, we are trying to win our games," he added.

"After that, when we finish the season, we will see which place we can be in the table. it does not depend on what we can do because what happens to Chelsea. We just try to win our games.

"Every point that we drop, of course, it's more difficult to retain [the league]. But, as I just said, We are not thinking about the title, we are not thinking about Chelsea. We are thinking just about our next game."
