Why Nigerians Have Been Experiencing Poor Electricity Supply

The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo has disclosed why Nigerians have been experiencing epileptic supply of electricity in recent times.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, October 20, Nebo said the poor electricity supply across the country in the past one week was because power generation had dropped by 1,000 megawatts.

Figures released by the Federal Ministry of Power showed that the country’s peak generation as of October 15, 2014 was 3,513.5MW, against a peak demand of 12,800MW, which means that the country is currently generating about 2,500MW.
Recall that the Federal Government of Nigeria had on August 29, 2014, promised to ensure stable power supply by October 2014. This was trailed by controversy as many doubted it.
